Big Meadows Beagles

We raise fast, honest hunting dogs that will win competitions and put meat on the table.

I've had beagles and coon dogs most of my life. I've been messing with dogs for more than 40 years.

I’ve been hunting beagles in competition since we founded the Springfield Sportsman Beagle Club 15 years ago. I’m always looking to improve the breed. I’ve driven hundreds of miles to breed with the best blood I could find. I look for hard hunters with drive, desire, and stamina. They have to have brains, along with strong noses and loud mouths.

I strive to sell the type of dog that I’d like to buy.

Grand Rabbit Champion Big Meadows Bull’s sire was Jeweltone Mac who was AKC registered. His mother was ARHA registered Edward’s Black Betty.

First and foremost Bull was a gundog deluxe. He was a pleasure to hunt. He could jump rabbits, run full-speed all day, and he never wore out.

He could run so steadily without losses that it wasn’t uncommon for him to run down and catch rabbits pretty often.

He won the West Virginia State Hunt in 1990 at 1 year old.

He also won the New Jersey State Championship and placed 3rd in the World Hunt.
Bull made Champion and Grand Rabbit Champion easily.

He sired many Champions and Grand Rabbit Champions. Most of my dogs now go back to his sire, Jeweltone Mac and Mac’s cousin Jeweltone Spike.
